OUTLOUD
'Let's Get Serious'
(AOR Heaven)
Release Date: 26th May 2014
The keyboardist and other guitarist from Greek Metal mainstays Firewind, Bob Katsionis keeps working with melodic rock band Outloud.Their third album becomes to build on their previous work. They are offering up ballads, hook-laden upbeat rockers and a cover version.
The good performances is 'Bury The Knife' and 'Like A Dream'. Other highlights like 'It Really Doesn't Matter', their cover version of the OMD classic 'Enola Gay' and 'A While To Go' are exellent too .
OUTLOUD
Listen out for special guest drummer George Kollias from the band Nile laying down a respectable performance throughout this album which will do more than satisfy fans of Outloud. On 'Toy Soldiers' the band rev up those rockin' engines and batter the walls of the studio with what some are speculating is their heaviest moment committed to any of their recordings yet.
The title track interestingly enough is an instrumental which to be honest is alright; fast and melodic it does the business.
Song list :
I Was So Blind
One More Time
Bury The Knife
Like A Dream
It Really Doesn't Matter
A While To Go
All In Vain
Another Kind Of Angel
Let's Get Serious
Toy Soldiers
Enola Gay
EDGUY
The most impressive parts of the album for me is to come to the 'The Realms Of Baba Yaga'.This is a heavy mini-epic song and sounds amazing. 'Shadow Eaters' has a great melodic guitar hookline over the double bass beats and riffing guitars and closing track 'The Eternal Wayfarer' is a nine minute epic about the search for the immortal soul sounding 'Kashmir'-like.'Love Tyger' is a melodic metal celebration. 'Do Me Like A Caveman' is obvious tongue in Metal humour but is a good song to hold it all together. The cover of Falco's '80s hit 'Rock Me Amadeus' is a step for humour stakes.
The Scorpions will fire drummer James Kottak when he is released from a Dubai, United Arab Emirates jail in Saturday, 3rd May.
SCORPIONS
Because of his arrest, Kottak did not perform with his bandmates at the April 5th show at the 2014 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix and was replaced at the gig by Mark Cross (Tank, Tainted Nation, Firewind, Outloud, Helloween, Metallium).
The Scorpions will fire Kottak as his behaviour and conviction are unacceptable to a band of their stature and social conscience. The Scorpions have written many songs over the years promoting peace and tolerance for the world over and this incident will jeopardise any future opportunities the band may get to play in Islamic countries.Former Helloween, Tank and Firewind drummer Mark Cross is likely to replace Kottak full time.Cross stepped in at very short notice to replace Kottak for the Bahrain Grand Prix show.

MOTÖRHEAD With Support From GRAVEYARD
Warfield Theater, San Francisco
Friday 18th April 2014
Lemmy Kilminster led his band to the scene once more. Long live Lemmy. The sold-out crowd at San Francisco's Warfield Theater is an experienced, well-dressed rock audience. Everyone was here for the music. No one knew exactly what to expect from Motörhead. What we got was an amazing performance from start to finish.
First, Graveyard on stage, and they tear through their set of intertwined melodic psychedelic blues rock. This band is a great collection of British blues rock around Kossoff and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, a solid rhythm section and melodic songs.
Their new album, "Lights Out", is proof that the group develops. If you can see this band - see them. Their name would indicate more metal approach, but they are closer to Cream.

REALITY GREY
'Define Redemption'
(Baker Team Records)
After a long period since the release of their EP 'Day Zero' in 2008, Italian melodic metal outfit Reality Grey have returned with their second full length, entitled 'Define Redemption'.
A collection of nine new songs that the band hope will redefine their sound.
'Define Redemption' is fast and at times brutal, more so than their previous work, particularly from a melodic Metal perspective.

'Define Redemption' is fast and at times brutal, more so than their previous work, particularly from a melodic Metal perspective.
There is also a modern facet with the inclusion of technical elements in the guitar work.
Most of the tracks fitted into a specific niche, fast with a mix of technical and melodic
It still had all those other elements they have been trying to encompass, the technical and the melodic but here it slotted together in a very dynamic easy way.
'Define Redemption' is okay, solid and well produced .

(Nuclear Blast)
Release Date: 18/04/14
Tobias Sammet - man who when not touring the world for concerts with Avantasia, he's out doing the same with his original band Edguy. This is their tenth studio album.
'Space Police' has a humourous sounding title but is a mid-paced rifferama with added keyboards and a serious sub text about freedom . The title track 'Defenders Of The Crown' is a Sabaton like battle anthem with chantalong chorus about defending Heavy Metal .

SCORPIONS with Mark Cross
The Scorpions will fire drummer James Kottak when he is released from a Dubai, United Arab Emirates jail in Saturday, 3rd May.
The 51-year-old American was convicted of insulting Islam and sentenced to a month in jail. The sentence includes time already spent in detention. He was also fined 2,000 dirhams (approximately $545) for drinking alcohol without a license.
Kottak had consumed five glasses of wine on an April 3rd flight from Moscow to Dubai while flying to Bahrain with Gulf Air to perform two days later at the country's Formula One Grand Prix but after taking a wrong turn and entering the transit hall, the drummer started swearing and talking about "non-educated Muslims before he flashed his middle finger at passengers," according to witnesses. Police said he also lowered his trousers and showed people his behind.
